Costa Esuri Updates – Marina, Hotel & Supermarket

Ayamonte

Image via Wikipedia

On 12th November the Mayor of Ayamonte at a meeting with the Community of Owners at Costa Esuri confirmed that work on the Costa Esuri Marina will start by the end of 2010.

In the shorter term, work on the Hotel next to the Golf Club should recommence very soon now that Martinesa-Fadesa has sold both that building and the Commercial Centre.

A company has already sought permission from the Town Hall to install and open a supermarket in the Commercial Centre.

No indication has been given as to whether that permission has been granted but it is looking very likely that great improvements to the amenities at Costa Esuri are likely in the near future.

Costa Esuri Golf II

Golf Course 2 at Costa Esuri is opening today, Thursday 17th June 2008.

At least that is the official word but having seen delays after such previous announcements, until the first ball is hit I’ll reserve judgement!

It will be 5 weeks until I get my first round so I’d really welcome a review or comments from anyone that plays the course in the meantime.

I guess, following Tiger Woods withdrawal from competition for the rest of the season we’ll not be getting his review!

Manzana Pools

Two weeks holiday equals total business madness upon return!

I promised myself I’d post stacks of information about our two weeks at Costa Esuri in August but the workload has been relentless.

I decided I must start and do a little each day.

Our apartment is on the ground floor and earlier in the year I decided we should have a gate installed so that we had direct access to the swimming pool area rather than going through the apartment and taking keys with us all of the time. If you have children you also know that it would mean getting up and down every two minutes because they need something indoors. pool.jpg

Without a doubt it has been the best thing we’ve spent money on. The kids can run in and out as much as they like and we don’t have to think about taking out drinks etc etc.

We walked round all of the Manzanas at Marina Esuri and most were being used but typically by only a few people.

I originally thought the pools were rather small but I’ve found out that if they were any larger it is a Spanish regulation that there has to be a lifeguard on duty. That equals increased cost and shorter opening times.

In fact, the pool is plenty big enough and the paddling pool is great for younger children.

A perfect day? Costa Esuri Golf first thing, walk back for a quick swim, lunch then out to one of the beaches until early evening. Return for another swim, barbecue on the patio and a cool beer. Must get rid of this work nonsense!

Costa Esuri Update

I’m just back from a brilliant two week holiday in my apartment at Costa Esuri.

There’s much to tell you which I’ll do over the coming week but just to let you know I’ve added a whole batch of photographs to the Images section, including many of the Costa Esuri Golf Course.

The weather was brilliant sunshine for 2 solid weeks, my apartment’s snags have all been sorted and I could really relax for the firtst time.

The Golf Club house is now fully open – I really like it – good feel and food (the only drawback was one of the staff was on holiday – just at the busiest time!!) but I can forgive that as I sit with a cool beer in the warm evening sun overlooking the driving range.

We found loads of great beaches, some just across the bridge in Portugal and even enjoyed a day trip to Seville. I say even because cities are not normally my kids’ idea of fun but a trip in an open top bus and a horse and carriage ride kept them happy!

Costa Esuri at Squidoo

I’ve just built a “lens” at Squidoo and I’ll be really grateful if you could take a look and add links to any Costa Esuri (or Costa de la Luz) related sites that will be useful to other readers.

I’m thinking of good restaurants, local attractions, suppliers etc.

For those of you not familiar with Squidoo it’s a great way of creating a simple “website” based on a theme, like Costa Esuri. No knowledge of any programming is required, everything is pre-formatted – you simply add your content.

Take a look – you may even want to create your own lens.

Sky Dishes at Costa Esuri

The latest information on the saga of installing a Sky satellite dish at Esuri…

It seems that if Fadesa (or the management company) has not already installed a dish on the block then any owner can do so. A charge could then be made to any other owners for connecting to your dish and thus recoup part / all of the cost.

How you would police this I’m not sure unless you happened to know all of the other owners.

Alternatively each owner would be able to install their own dish – the last one may find a lack of space available though :)

The installation difficulties relate to the cabling to the individual apartments – for some very straightforward but if the trunking has been damaged when installed there could be problems. Unfortunately there is no way of knowing in advance.

I’d like to hear from anyone with success or horror stories & also any tips for the best place to buy TVs. Thanks in advance.

Property Insurance – Costa Esuri

There’s a discussion going on at the Costa Esuri forum (address in sidebar) about property insurance and in particular what is required if letting out the property for holiday lets.

If any one has any professional knowledge or personal experience please either leave a comment here or head over to the forum and join the debate.

Thanks

P.S. I thought I’d add a photograph of the Marina at Isla Canela here as I didn’t like the Golf Course Fees list showing up at the top of the blog page from a previous post!

TV Free Zone?

So what is happening about the satellite dish installations? I’m hearing conflicting information. Fadesa were supposed to have cabled everything so one dish per building was required. Then a simple job of connecting cables for those who wanted to install.

It now seems that Fadesa didn’t install the trunking or cables and each property has to put up it’s own dish. Apart from the additional cost the potential for masses of dishes isn’t appealing (at least the sun is so bright people will tend not to look up). Google Earth will no doubt tell it’s own story in time with a picture of a huge radar station!!

I’ll let you know more when I return from Esuri next week but will be interested to hear from anyone with first hand experience in the meantime. Please leave a comment below if you have had a dish installed or know anymore. Thanks.

Weedless?

I’m delighted. I’ve just agreed to have the wilderness, or should I say patch of land knee deep in weeds that masquerades as the “garden” at my apartment in Esuri, covered in tiles.

That will reduce maintenance and make the property look lived in at last. Hopefully it will be complete in time for my next visit at half-term. Looking forward to getting a round of golf in at Esuri at last. Hopefully there will be a few more inhabitants than just before Christmas.

If anyone is likely to be around please let me know – I’d love to meet up.
